How far did I travel this week? 900.99 miles
How far have I traveled on your journey so far? More than five thousand miles
How did I get around this week? I went by plane from Madrid, Spain to Ireland. I walked around all the city of Dublin, but I took a bus to the countryside of Ireland where all of the sheep and green fields are.
What was the most interesting place I visited this week? The most interesting place I visited was the countryside in Ireland. I took a bus tour and visited Wicklow and Glendough. When you imagine Ireland, what do you think? Do you think of green grass fields covered with sheep? Fresh air and lakes? I saw this on my second day, and I fell in love. It was everything I had imagined and more.
Dublin, where I stayed, is a big city. It has buildings, a river, traffic and everything that comes along with being a city. The second day, I saw exactly what I thought Ireland would be like. Have any of you ever seen the movie P.S. I Love You? Do you remember where the girl and boy meet for the first time on the bridge when she is lost? I was there! I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and imagined I was actually the actress in the movie. It was a dream come true!
Other travel news: I took the most magnificent trip over my spring break. My friend and I visited Ireland. What do you think of when you think of Ireland? I think of St. Patrick, leprechauns, sheep and beautiful grass fields that stretch for miles.
Guess what? I saw leprechauns! They were pretend, of course! My friend and I visited a leprechaun museum. The museum had rooms with small furniture that helped us feel as if we were as small as leprechaun. At the end, we made wishes in their wishing well. I cannot of course tell you what my wish was because if I do, it will not come true. We traveled over the rainbow, and guess what was at the end? If you guessed a pot of gold, then you are correct! Unfortunately, though it was only pretend. Even so, we had to raise our hands up in the air and say “Woooooo!” It was so much fun!
It was such a wonderful trip that I will never ever forget! I was able to finally use my imagination again!
I was only there for three days, so when you are reading this remember that.
Partly cloudy: 1
What is the air temperature right now? 52 degrees
How was the weather this week? The weather was in the high forties, and the low was about 29.
What animals did I see this week? I saw a lot of sheep. When I went and visited the countryside, there were sheep in many of the fields. At one point, I even saw two baby sheep. They were just lying by the fence with their mom. It was so precious! I also saw some wild deer. There was a group of them standing by the lake.
What was the coolest thing I saw in nature this week? The coolest thing I saw in nature was a lake that looked black. Yes, the water was black. When I first saw it, I could not believe my eyes. The amount of iron in the bottom is what made the water look black. The lakes where I visited are so rich in iron content that instead of being a normal blue or green, they looked black. Have you ever seen this before?
What languages are spoken here? The official language of Ireland is Gaelic. Did you know that? All of the kids are taught it in school, but only one percent of the population actually speaks it. The most common language spoken in Ireland is English; however all of the signs have both Gaelic and English.
What type of money is used here? They also use Euros, just like Spain.
How much does a bottle of water cost? 1.30 Euros
What was the best meal this week? They are best known for their Irish stew. My friend had it and she absolutely loved it. Guess what kind of meat it had in it? If you guessed lamb, you are correct. This is the popular meat in Ireland.
What music did I listen to this week? I listened to Irish music. It is very catchy and it shows a wonderful part of their culture.
What activity was the most fun this week? Being able to get out of the bus and walk along the water and the wooden paths of the countryside of Ireland. When I walked through the park of Glendough, I felt like I was walking on air. There were so many trees that surrounded me. I saw sunshine, mountains and water. There was one scene that I thought was a painting because it was so beautiful.
What did I read this week? The news!
What games or sports did I play this week? I would say that the idea of going through the world of a leprechaun was like a game to me. I felt like a kid again, getting to use my imagination.
