Nature Field Note
Nature. What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear this word? Do you think of a beautiful place to visit? Or do you think of a place so wild, it would be hard to visit?
While staying in in Sorrento, Italy, I can see and appreciate how nature and the city environment are combined. There are plants spread around the city. There are really beautiful natural scenes just outside of the city. The city sometimes can be crowed. What if I need a getaway from this urban environment just to relax in nature? In the following paragraph, I will tell you about a secret and beautiful place that just a few local residents know about.
Just about 15 minutes’ walk away from Sorrento, you can find a really narrow road, or path, with a really small sign saying “Roman ruins”. After walking down this path for about 10 minutes, you will find this beautiful place. It is located by the sea. It used to be a Roman villa, or townhouse, during the time of the Roman Empire, but now it’s just ruins.
The natural beauty that is around this place is fantastic. There is even a natural pool made out of sea water. The clarity of this water in the natural pool is crystal blue, but the water is salty, and super cold. As soon as you see this natural pool, the first thing that you want to do is jump in and enjoy it. I have been there a couple of times, and every time I go, my mind just relaxes. This place can give you a getaway from the city environment, and make you relax for as long as you want.
Definitely, this place is one of the natural wonders that not just Sorrento, but the whole of Italy, can offer. It’s kind of hidden from all of the major tourist attractions in the area. To get there is also kind of challenging, and just a few locals know about this place. However, these facts are perfect to make this place so peaceful because I get to relax and swim in this natural pool. There might be only four people swimming around me while I am there! This place represents true natural beauty and perfect relaxation, where nature is really enjoyable. By the way, have I mentioned that this place is free?!
