What is daily life like?
I interviewed my teacher and my friend Bishnu Lama. He is 56 years old. He is a top wildlife specialist here in Nepal. I chose to interview him because he has lived an interesting life. He has been in a few films about wildlife that were filmed by large organizations, including National Geographic!

What do you do for work?
Bishnu is the head wildlife technician at the National Trust for Nature Conservancy here. His job is requires him to be very adventurous. He can identify every tiger in the park by their stripes and every rhino in the park just by looking at them. Pretty amazing, right?
If someone in Nepal is having problems with a wild elephant, tiger, or rhino, they call Bishnu. He will help them by teaching them about wildlife or moving the animal to a new home. Bishnu has my dream job. I would love to work with wildlife all day, especially tigers, elephants and rhinos. He also trained me in tracking these animals.
Where do you live? What is your house like?
Bishnu lives outside of Chitwan National Park in a town calld Bauchauli. He lives only one and a half blocks away from the national park office. He lives in a green, one-story house. He has electricity and running water. His house has three bedrooms and a central living room. His kitchen and bathroom are separate from the house.
What is your family like?
Bishnu is married. He and his wife have five children; two daughters and three sons. His daughters are married and live with their husbands. His two sons and their families live in his house. This is the usual way of things in Nepal.
Bishnu’s family is pretty amazing. Bishnu’s wife and sons operate an orphanage near their house. So, there are always children running around.
How do you get around?
Bishnu has a motorcycle that he uses to get around.
What types of clothing do you like to wear?
Bishnu dresses much like a grandpa would. He always wears a vest over a button down shirt with khaki pants. He has an important job so he must always look his best.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Bishnu loves nature!
What language(s) do you speak? How do you say “Hello” in your language?
Bishnu speaks Tamung, Nepali and English. Namaste is how one says hello in Tamung and Nepali.

As a wildlife expert, Bishnu travels a lot. He has traveled to Thailand for tiger work. He has also traveled to the USA several times. He loves New York City. He has spent time in Baltimore, MD, Washington DC, NYC, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota and California.
